The Church of God

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

1 Cor. 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

The Church of God at Morgan City is a congregation of the church of God mentioned in these and numerous other verses throughout the New Testament. We are a group of saints that are part of the bride of Christ, which he hath purchased with his own blood. The church of God is made up of all people who have truly been saved from their sins. Salvation through Jesus Christ is the only thing that can put people into God’s church (Acts 2:47), and sin is the only thing that can put them out (Exo. 32:33).

Salvation consists of two separate works of grace in a person’s heart:  justification and sanctification. When people get both of these experiences working in their lives, they can live out the third great truth of the gospel by living in unity with other saints. Full salvation makes a person a born again, Spirit-filled, son of God. Please contact us for more information about any of these doctrines.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin

Saved people do not sin. This is clearly taught throughout God’s word, including in these scriptures. Jesus taught people to go, and sin no more, and we believe it is both possible and required.
